CIBC LAKE LOUISE WINTERSTART MEN'S RACES ARE A GO!

LAKE LOUISE (Alberta), November 20, 2004 - Alpine Canada Alpin and the Lake Louise race Organizing Committee, are happy to inform racers, coaches, sponsors, members of the media and fans that the CIBC Lake Louise Winterstart men's downhill and super G races have officially been confirmed by the Fédération Internationale de Ski (FIS).

In a standard, pre-race hill inspection completed earlier this morning, Helmuth Schmalzl from the FIS, proclaimed the race hill in suitable condition to hold the men's races kickstarting on November 27, 2004 with the men's downhill, followed by the men's super G on November 28.

"The conditions are very good for these early season speed races," said Mr. Schmalzl.

The world's top alpine ski racers will arrive at Lake Louise early this week to take part in three training runs prior to competing in the first downhill race of the 2004-2005 World Cup season next Saturday.

Erik Guay, second place finisher in downhill at the 2003 CIBC Lake Louise Winterstart, and Jan Hudec, 15 place finisher in super G at the 2003 CIBC Lake Louise Winterstart, promise to lead a strong Canadian delegation.

All are invited to come and cheer on Canada's champions! Access to public viewing areas is free!
